What Coaching Is

What Coaching is

My definition of coaching is: “Unlocking a person’s potential to maximise and strengthen their own performance in order to develop new skills and competencies”.

Coaching helps individuals to learn. It does not tell them what to do.  The objective of each session is to  increase the self-awareness of the coachee. The process is facilitative – the Coach listens to the Coachees concerns. This is defined as a Non-Directive approach. The diagram below outlines the elements of this approach and contrasts them with the Directive one:

Coaching addresses a very large range of specific issues. They are practical and relate to changing the way you do things. It is not Therapy or Counselling.

Below are some of the issues I have worked on with my clients.

  • Risk taking
  • Managing work/ life balance
  • Leadership
  • Team Management
  • Managing conflict
  • Procrastination
  • Managing your profile
  • Improving decision making
  • Increasing self-confidence
  • Increasing assertiveness
  • Persistence

This website expands on the above and describes my approach and philosophy. Please see What I Can Do For You or go to Get In Touch  for an initial conversation.
